Self-improvement feels like running on a treadmill—except the treadmill costs $3,000, requires a 5AM wake-up, and only works if you also buy the $40 manifestation journal.
I really enjoy the topics you write about and your style of writing. I agree with the self improvement - I think there’s only so much one can read and then until just actually actioning it. I think most of the time we may already be aware of the things that may need to be “self improved..” but there is some kind of element of “fun” or style in reading the books about it. I do believe whole heartedly and from personal experiences that we just need to live - if all we’re doing is self improvement (mostly because it’s broadcasted everywhere - and I too believe in it!) at what point are we just doing that and not actually living?
Omg yes!!! 1) thank you for the comment—it’s been so fun to lean into writing more but it’s also not a medium I’m super comfortable with so this compliment means the most 2) yes I think you nailed it on the head better than I did
You should keep writing more! I love how you incorporate the “something pretty, something busy, something happy” at the end of each article, it adds a really nice element to reading.
I had a conversation with someone the other day about this topic and I have become much more aware of which self help kind of things I read / who the author is / and if I actually like them … because I guess it doesn’t make sense to take some kind of advice from someone you don’t align with or who may just be trying to make a profit!
was digging this until you mentioned using chatgpt :(
